My most personal painting is 18 years in the making

In the summer of 2007, during my third residency with Odd Nerdrum, I frequently sketched prospective ideas for paintings.  The sketch for Frontiersman was made that summer.  Many of the sketches featured a weary man rescued from a dark cave by a woman.
